Frozen Mango and Pineapple Margarita - Make restaurant style frozen margarita at home! Easy homemade frozen margarita recipe that's perfect for summer!

two glasses of margarita with Tajin salt on the plate

As soon as the weather is warm enough to be outside, my husband and I would hang out with our friends at a restaurant (we get a table outside) and sip on frozen mango margarita and snack on chips and guacamole. There is something so relaxing and festive about drinking margarita with friends and enjoying the warm evening together.

I personally am not a huge fan of sweet cocktail. I'd much prefer to drink a bottle of beer or a glass of red wine. But this sweet frozen margarita is something that I crave time to time during summer. Now that the weather is warm again, I wanted to come up with a frozen margarita recipe that will bring back lots of good memories.

ingredients to make the frozen margarita

Although this frozen margarita is super delicious, I want to fully disclose that this is NOT the most figure friendly drink. Let me just say this drink is sweet and you can taste the tequila. I think the flavor of my frozen mango and pineapple margarita is pretty darn close to the ones that I used to get at the restaurant.

How to make Frozen Mango and Pineapple Margarita

    • Silver tequila - This is a classic and absolutely necessary ingredient in making a margarita.
    • Margarita mix - This is where the sweetness comes from. You can use any margarita mix. You don't have to buy a fancy kind. It just needs to be a classic flavor so the flavor won't crash with mango and pineapple.
    • Frozen mango - You can absolutely use fresh mango but you will end up adding less ice by using frozen mango. Therefore, you are not diluting the flavor as much with the ice.
    • Frozen pineapple - The pineapple adds additional sweetness to the margarita and complement the flavor of the mango by bringing out the brightness of the tropical flavor.
    • Lime and Lemon juice - Juice of both lime and lemon cuts through the sweetness from the margarita mix and fruits. The lime juice adds pleasant tartness and lemon juice adds vibrant acidity to the margarita.

Looking for a perfect dinner to go with this delicious margarita? I got you! My Fish Stick Tacos (vegetarian/vegan version) with Homemade Fresh Tomato Salsa with Red Wine Vinegar would complete your summer dinner! How about a glass of this frozen mango and pineapple margarita on an upcoming taco Tuesday for dinner? I don't know about you, but it sounds pretty amazing to me 😉

    Happy drinking, my friends!

    • Prep Time: 5 minutes
    • Total Time: 5 minutes
    • Yield: 2 frozen margaritas 1x
    • Category: Drinks
    • Method: Blend
    • Cuisine: Mexican

    Ingredients

    Scale

    For frozen margarita

    • ½ cup frozen mango
    • ¼ cup frozen pineapple
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • Juice of 1 lemon
    • ⅓ cup margarita mix
    • ⅓ cup silver tequila
    • 1 to ¾ cup ice

    For the rim of glass

    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • 1 to 2 tablespoon Tajin classic seasoning

    Instructions

    1. On a small size plate, mix together the sugar and Tajin classic seasoning.
    2. Wet the rim of margarita glass with a lime or lemon wedge and dip the glass in the sugar and Tajin mixture. Set aside.
    3. Mix all the ingredients for the margarita in a high speed blender. Blend until smooth and pour the mixture into the glass and serve right away.

    Notes

    • Rim your glass with sugar and Tajin classic seasoning is totally optional. You can use classic salt rim or sugar rim. Or skip this step all together. I personally think the subtle spiciness from the Tajin seasoning brings out the sweetness of the fruits even more.
    • This recipe makes two frozen margaritas but if you want to make it for larger crowd, simply scale up the ingredients.
