Health benefits of Matcha:

  • Rich in antioxidants
  • Help with brain function – think ‘Caffeine’ 😉
  • Anti-aging
  • Help control your appetite

Matcha is pretty magical. What saddens me is that people tend to mix matcha with TONS of sugar to almost reverse its wonderful effects. But don’t worry. I’m here to share my quick and easy homemade healthy matcha latte recipe. Oh, did I mention I have a recipe for both hot and cold latte?

Homemade Healthy Matcha latte - ingredients

If you were to search for a homemade matcha latte recipe, you’d get tons of results. So how is my matcha latte recipe different from others?

Ingredients in healthy homemade matcha latte:

  • Medjool Date: date is an amazing natural sweetener that is high in nutrients, fiber, and antioxidants.
  • Oat milk: I use oat milk because it gives the most creamy texture. My favorite brand is Oatly.
  • Barley grass powder: Barley grass powder is rich in vitamins and minerals. Also, it is immune boosting. The taste of barley grass powder is very mild. It has a hint of nuttiness and compliments the taste of matcha well.

How to make a homemade healthy matcha latte

I am using my high-speed blender to make my matcha latte. By using the blender, you can achieve frothy milk that you adore in any latte!

Iced matcha latte

  • Oat milk
  • Medjool dates
  • Matcha powder
  • Barley grass powder
  • Ice cubes for serving

Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend until it’s smooth You can always add more Medjool dates for extra sweetness. But keep in mind that it may make the texture of the latte little gritty.

Hot matcha latte

  • Hot water
  • Oat milk
  • Medjool dates
  • Matcha powder
  • Barley grass powder

Place the Medjool dates and hot water in the blender first to loosen the dates a bit.

Perfectly sweet and frothy homemade healthy matcha latte that’s a great alternative to your morning coffee. Recipe for both hot and cold latte!

Ingredients

Scale

Hot Matcha Latte:

  • 1/2 cup of boiling water
  • 3 pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon barley grass powder

Cold Matcha Latte

  • 1.5 cup of oat milk
  • 3 pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 1 teaspoon barley grass powder
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

Hot Matcha Latte:

  1. In a high-speed blender, add the dates and hot water and let it soak for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  2. Add rest of the ingredients and blend on high speed for a full minute until all the dates are broken down and blended.

Cold Matcha Latte:

  1. In a high-speed blender, add all the ingredients and blend at high speed for full two minutes.
  2. Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the matcha latte.

Notes

  • For the hot matcha latte, dates get soaked in hot water to get broken down easier. For a cold matcha latte, you need to blend the mixture a little longer. This might make your latte slightly warm due to the high speed of the blender. But once you pour them over ice, you’d still get your delicious iced matcha latte.
  • I used 3 dates and it was plenty sweet. But if you’d like it to be sweeter, I recommend adding agave or maple syrup. Adding more than 3 dates resulted in a slight grainy texture of the latte.
